Birthday Fundraiser: Raising money for Trevor Project
For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to The Trevor Project. Why? Because I believe no youth, no matter who they are, should be in a mental state that has them contemplating suicide. Like I once did myself. Been there and almost did that when I was a senior in high school. I'm alive because in that moment I thought of a dear friend and was reminded of a quote from her favorite movie at the time, "No man is a failure who has friends." That stopped me. From that moment I decided to refocus on friendship. It kept me alive.
But no teenager should be having those thoughts or having to deal with a situation or mental illness that fosters those ideations.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 10 to 24 (Hedegaard, Curtin, & Warner, 2018) — and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth are at significantly increased risk. (via Trevor Project)
Please consider giving what you can. Thanks much in advance!
